Dr Andy McFadden, a surgical oncologist in Vancouver, chaired a symposium for breast cancer surgeons held today at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This symposium, part of a 3-day national meeting of Canadian general surgeons, was coordinated by Dr McFadden in his role as chair of the Oncology Committee for the Canadian Association of General Surgeons. The session was well attended – standing room only was available for late comers! The keynote address, “Neoadjuvant Systemic Therapy to Improve Surgical Outcomes for Breast Cancer” was given by Dr Harry Bear, a surgical oncologist from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia.
